Workshop Format

Our January Cohort starts on Thursday, January 29, 2026.

Every Thursday for 12 Weeks
5:00pm PT / 7:00pm CT / 8:00pm ET

Each week, you’ll join a 90-minute guided online session that thoughtfully walks through each chapter of It’s Never Too Late to Begin Again.

Sessions include reflection, discussion, and gentle guidance to help you stay engaged and supported throughout the process.

Each session is designed to be spacious, supportive, and respectful of real life. You don’t need to be “caught up” to participate—just show up as you are. This is a guided journey, not a race.

This workshop centers inclusion, respect, and care for one another. It’s for those who feel comfortable participating in a diverse, inclusive, and respectful community.

Who This Workshop Is For

This workshop is for you if:

  • You’re 50+ and curious about reconnecting with your creativity
  • You enjoy reading, reflection, journaling, and meaningful conversation
  • You value kindness, inclusion, and group support
  • You want more joy, fun, and connection in your life
  • You want structure and guidance without pressure

This workshop may not be a good fit if:

  • You’re looking for performance-based critiques or professional training
  • You’re uncomfortable participating in a diverse, inclusive community
  • You’re not open to trying new things

What Each Week Looks Like

Each weekly session includes:

  • A gentle overview of the week’s chapter and themes
  • Reflection prompts and guided discussion
  • Optional sharing (you are never required to speak)
  • Practical suggestions for working with the exercises during the week
  • Space for questions, encouragement, and support

Outside of sessions, you’ll be invited to work with the book’s practices at your own pace. There is no pressure to “keep up”—this workshop honors real life.

Book Requirement

Participants will need their own copy of It’s Never Too Late to Begin Again by Julia Cameron. Any format is fine but I recommend the print format because it will allow you to underline, highlight, and write notes in the margin.

Time Commitment

Outside of the 90-minute weekly session, most participants spend about 60–90 minutes during the week engaging with the book’s exercises. This is flexible and self-paced. You get out of this experience what you’re able to put in—but perfection is not required.

Intentionally Small

This workshop is intentionally small and human-scaled. You’ll be part of a respectful, supportive group of peers navigating creativity at a similar life stage. You are welcome exactly as you are—whether you feel excited, uncertain, rusty, or all three. Be sure to secure your spot now!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be an artist or have creative experience to join?
No. This workshop is for anyone who feels curious about creativity—whether you’ve been making art for years or haven’t touched anything creative ever. There is no skill level required.

Do I have to share or speak during the sessions?
No. Sharing is always optional. You’re welcome to listen, reflect quietly, or participate in whatever way feels comfortable to you.

What if I miss a session or fall behind?
Life happens. While live participation is encouraged, you don’t need to be “caught up” to continue. This is a supportive, non-competitive process, and each session stands on its own. To respect the privacy of participants, there will be no recordings of our live meetings. You will receive an inspirational email each week aligned to the topic of the chapter, and this will help fill in the gaps if you miss a session.

Is this workshop group counseling?
No. This is a creative workshop based on the book It’s Never Too Late to Begin Again. While personal insights often arise, the focus is on creative exploration.

What training does the guide have to teach this workshop?
Your guide has over 20 years of K–12 and college-level classroom teaching experience in English and music. Whit has also hosted The Artist’s Way and other creative workshops at community-based venues.

Whit’s education includes a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Applied Music Performance, a Master of Science in Computer Education and Cognitive Systems, and completed doctoral-level coursework in Technical Communication and Rhetoric.

What do I need to participate?
You’ll need a copy of It’s Never Too Late to Begin Again by Julia Cameron (any format is fine but print preferred), a notebook or journal, and a quiet space to join the online sessions.

Is this workshop inclusive and welcoming?
Yes. We welcome participants of all backgrounds and identities and ask that everyone engage with kindness, respect, and openness. This workshop is best suited for those who feel comfortable in a diverse, inclusive community.
